GET CLOSE TO THE BIG RIVER ♦ TAKE A GREAT ESCAPE FROM THE URBAN JUNGLE ♦ DISCOVER A HIDDEN PART OF BUDAPEST ♦ LAND ON A DESERTED ISLAND ♦ SEE THE CITY FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ♦ ENJOY A GREAT RIVER RECREATION!

budapest_canoe_trip_2.pngCome and enjoy a great time on the water, discovering an attractive district of Budapest. The riverbank at Rómaifürdő is situated within easy reach of the city centre. This is where the tour starts from, following a brief safety instruction. Led by an experienced steersman, you will paddle up an attractive branch of the river to a minor island of the Danube to take a rest in a wonderful landscape setting. During the trip, you will hear about and see some of the wildlife of the riverside, the history and unique architecture of the floodplain and, depending on the water level, explore a deserted island or a hidden branch of the river. The easy part is returning, as it’s downstream and you can go with the flow! Suitable also for beginners, it is great fun for all who love active recreation!

After the trip there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a relaxed time at some of the open-air bars along the riverbank.

Main sights: Danube riverscape, distant Budapest cityscape, pebbly beaches, unique riverside architecture, and fellow paddlers

Duration / length of the trip: approx. 4-5 hours / 14km (9 miles)

Level of physical difficulty: medium, with some challenge
There is need for some effort and physical fitness to move the canoe upstream (if you wish to paddle downstream only, please contact us for a quote). Comfortably, the upstream paddle will take approx. 2.5-3 hours including breaks as necessary. Returning downstream is nice and easy as we go with the flow.

The trip with an experienced steersman is safe. In the unlikely event of capsizing, life jackets keep you safe, while drybags keep your valuables and spare clothes dry.
